To kick off the new year, Ca’ Lucente opens 2026 with an exceptional masterclass led by Francesco Diodati and Stefano Calderano. This experience blends training, sound research, and shared living in a unique setting: a farmhouse nestled in the countryside, where music intertwines with nature and human connection.
The workshop is dedicated to the practice of non-idiomatic improvisation and is open to musicians of all backgrounds and experience levels. The goal is to offer an interdisciplinary approach, ranging from jazz and noise to the most avant-garde forms of contemporary music.
During the masterclass, various topics will be addressed through specific study practices, including:
The definition of soundscapes and their collective construction.
The performance aspect (stage presence, acoustics, listening, sound).
The collective approach through the creation of small ensembles and solo performances.
The interaction between different musical genres, including through active listening and discussion sessions.
Special attention will be given to sound dynamics and mutual feedback, both from the instructors and among the participants themselves. This approach aims to encourage conscious and active participation, even during reflection and analysis phases.
As with all experiences at Ca’ Lucente, the masterclass extends beyond the scheduled work hours: it is a time of total immersion. Shared lunches and dinners with the masters, breaks, and life in the farmhouse become an integral part of the educational journey. These moments offer a chance to get a closer look at a musician’s life, exchange ideas and passions, and build authentic dialogue with other participants. It’s a temporary community that experiences music not just as a discipline, but as a human and collective experience.
