Clarinet workshop with Jean-Pierre Sarzier, 19-23 August in Urbino (Italy)
During this clarinet workshop, most of the work will be done together, in an accessible way for beginners, but with a more in-depth approach for more experienced players.
We will work both by ear and on scores, on traditional repertoire and partly composed by the musician.
The following will be addressed: air column and sound setting; ornamentation, phrasing, sonority, timbres, style: relations with traditional dances, rhythm and groove; improvisation, accompaniment, reading a simple chord grid, creating a bass line from chords.
Slap, continuous breathing, double and triple staccato. Specific techniques for the bass clarinet.
Irish music and the transposition of flute and bagpipe techniques to the clarinet will be approached.
Less usual clarinets such as alto, basset horn, C or E clarinet are welcome (Please advise prior to the course).

Arrival: Sunday from 17:00
Departure: Saturday by 11:00
Audience: Adults from 7 to 10 trainees
Overnight accommodation: rooms for 4 people or spacious two-person tents
Food: fresh and possibly local produce
Workshop cost
570 Euro Full rate (including board and lodging)
500 Euro Student and unemployed rate (including board and lodging)
The course enrolment includes an advance payment of Euro 200, which will be refunded in full if cancelled within 30 days of the start of the course. In case of cancellation after this date we are obliged to withhold it.
